It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders

“The world is complicated right now. Let’s talk about it.”

Last election cycle, Sam Sanders emerged as a fresh voice and fan favorite as co-host of the NPR Politics Podcast. Now he’s bringing the same energy and enthusiasm to his new podcast to help listeners digest the news and better understand their world.

‘It’s been a minute’ is another way of saying ‘let’s catch up,’ and in his new podcast, host Sam Sanders does just that every Friday with two guests in a conversation about the news, culture, and everything in between. And not just what happened each week, but how it felt.

On Tuesday episodes, Sanders conducts deep dives — conversations with one guest, or on one topic. Listeners understand the world is complicated and people are, too — and sometimes you just need to talk it out.

The show also broadcasts as an hour-long, weekly episode across NPR Member stations’ weekend programming, merging the conversations held from that week’s podcast episodes.

TIME

[Sanders’s] trademark "y'all" and pop culture references could always be relied on to brighten up whatever fresh hell Washington had served up. Now Sanders has his own show, featuring…deep-dive interviews exploring the intersection of pop culture and politics.

[Sam Sanders] was a breakout talent. Endlessly warm and gifted with a strong ear for the moment, Sanders drew a strong enough following to earn him a shot at his own show.

Vulture

[Sanders catches] trends before they're trends, and [makes] politics relatable to people who might not actually like politics.
